From Surviving to Thriving

From Surviving to Thriving : Promoting Mental Health in Young People

This book is written primarily for school counsellors, but would be a valuable resource for any professional working with adolescents. It aims to provide guidance on working with adolescents at risk of anti-social behaviours (such as self-harming, eating disorders, substance abuse, school refusal, bullying, depression and suicide), and what factors to consider when developing preventative programs. The approach is solutions-oriented, and is informed by family therapy thinking - a contextual approach that takes into account the family, school and peer group.
