"The book is a guide for academic researchers, especially scientists and engineers, on how to move their discoveries to the marketplace. Few academics understand what tech transfer is or how it works, and many shy away from it because they equate commercialization with starting a company. Yet those same individuals can be intrigued to learn of additional pathways that enable discoveries to be translated into marketable products or services. We help researchers explore multiple routes for commercialization, guides them through the personal decisions they must face, describes programs designed to help them, and provides advice to avoid common problems. The concept of posture control has morphed over the past century from a reflex, hierarchically controlled, innate behavior to a complex and adaptable motor act highly influenced by cognitive processes as well as confidence and attentiveness of the performer. In addition, multisensory control of posture has been recognized as a process of fusion and integration rather than summation and inhibition. Advances in computational modeling and imaging have revealed that higher cortical centers are involved in production of what were previously believed to be stereotypical, triggered reactions. Emerging evidence now supports the idea that postural behaviors are regulated by distributed control in the neuraxis and shaped by dynamic interactions of sensorimotor processes in a task- and context-dependent manner.

This report identifies potential improvements in terms of more effective safety and environmental regulation for trucks, backed by better systems of enforcement, and identifies opportunities for greater efficiency and higher productivity.
The workshop organizers had previously identified three pillars that directly influence land and water resources, its policies and institutions at a regional scale. These were: (1) Availability of the resources; (2) Access to the resources; and (3) Achievements that can be obtained through the use of the resources (yields, productivity and income enhancement from these land and water resources). The two-day workshop focused on identifying appropriate research questions that would help improve the livelihoods of the rural poor in these three areas to cope with spatial and temporal variability, and scarcity, of available land and water resources, improve farmers’ access to these resources and ensure their distribution in an equitable manner, and achieve optimal productivity.
This book introduces and critically explores walking as an innovative method for doing social research, showing how its sensate and kinaesthetic attributes facilitate connections with lived experiences, journeys and memories, communities and identities. The book situates walking methods historically, sociologically, and in relation to biographical and arts-based research, as well as new work on mobilities, the digital, spatial, and the sensory. The book is organised into three sections: theorising; experiencing; and imagining walking as a new method for doing biographical research. There is a key focus upon the Walking Interview as a Biographical Method (WIBM) on the move to usefully explore migration, memory, and urban landscapes, as part of participatory, visual, and ethnographic research with marginalised communities and artists and as re-formative and transgressive. The book concludes with autobiographical walks taken by the authors and a discussion about the future of the walking interview as biographical method. Walking Methods combines theory with a series of original ethnographic and participatory research examples. Practical exercises and a guide to using walking as a method help to make this a rich resource for social science researchers, students, walking artists, and biographical researchers.
