This book places outdoor learning in a theoretical, historical and social context of constructions of children, childhood and the use of the outdoors.
The outdoors is full of rich learning experiences for preschool and pre-kindergarten children. Ginny consults, trains teachers, and involves schools and centers in the design of their outdoor spaces to help children learn about the natural world.

A Pedagogy of Place offers an alternative vision for outdoor education practice. This timely book calls into question some of the underlying assumptions and ‘truths’ about outdoor education, putting forward alternatives to current practice that are responsive to local conditions and cultural traditions.
