A middle grade fantasy book that both teens and young adults will enjoy! Perfect for kids who love adventure and fantasy stories! A young man named Jasper discovers a young joey kangaroo one day while out on a hunt and saves it from the dingoes. After rescuing the kangaroo he decides to raise it himself, since the mother had abandoned it. Years later he will be shocked to find out why it was abandoned, since this kangaroo in particular seems to have grown bigger then any kangaroo the boy had ever seen before. Soon the kangaroo outgrows Jasper's shack, so both decide that they should find some place better. The day Jasper mounts Kaylia's back will change his life, for that day he discovered that if you had a way to hold on it was actually possible to mount the kangaroo and ride it. Soon after while in one of the local towns the head of the messenger services in their realm notices Jasper and his mount, and decides that the boy would be able to make a fairly decent messenger. So he inquires the boy about becoming a messenger to run mail and packages around their country of Northern Austra while astride the back of his giant kangaroo. Meanwhile, Jasper also eventually tries to seek out the other giant kangaroos in an effort to be able to eventually release Kaylia, so that she can return to where she belongs and have her freedom as he believes she could. At the time he doesn't believe that she belongs with him, since she should be free and be able to live in the wild. For he knows that if she would have never been attacked by the dingoes that she would have grown up as a wild, and free giant kangaroo. Jasper will do all he can to try to get the chance to release Kaylia back into the wild, if that's even possible. Come along for the ride of your life as a mounted messenger on the back of a kangaroo in The Kangaroo's Messenger.

With Waypoint Kangaroo, Chen makes his debut with this outer space thriller. Kangaroo isn’t your typical spy. Sure, he has extensive agency training, access to bleeding-edge technology, and a ready supply of clever (to him) quips and retorts. But what sets him apart is “the pocket.” It’s a portal that opens into an empty, seemingly infinite, parallel universe, and Kangaroo is the only person in the world who can use it. But he's pretty sure the agency only keeps him around to exploit his superpower. After he bungles yet another mission, Kangaroo gets sent away on a mandatory “vacation:” an interplanetary cruise to Mars. While he tries to make the most of his exile, two passengers are found dead, and Kangaroo has to risk blowing his cover. It turns out he isn’t the only spy on the ship–and he’s just starting to unravel a massive conspiracy which threatens the entire Solar System. Now, Kangaroo has to stop a disaster which would shatter the delicate peace that’s existed between Earth and Mars ever since the brutal Martian Independence War. A new interplanetary conflict would be devastating for both sides. Millions of lives are at stake. Weren’t vacations supposed to be relaxing?

Through its unique integration of curriculum and learning principles, Early Childhood Curriculum: A Constructivist Perspective, 2nd Edition fosters authentic, developmentally appropriate practice for both preschool and early elementary classrooms. The constructivist format of this book encourages active involvement on the part of readers by asking them to observe, question, reflect, research, and analyze, thus allowing readers to create their own knowledge through their responses and actions. Early Childhood Curriculum examines curricular goals such as autonomy, development, and problem solving and links those goals with constructivist principles of learning. It explores ways teachers can create meaningful learning environments and choose curriculum tasks appropriately—in all content areas—that are linked to the learning and development needs of young children. The text provides a wealth of practical detail about implementing constructivist curriculum as the authors discuss classroom climate and management, room design, play, and cooperative learning, among other topics. The book also includes information about how teachers can meet required mandates and national and state standards in appropriate ways as they plan their curriculum, and examines the early childhood educator's role with community agencies, reform and legal mandates, and public relations. Special Features: • “Curriculum Strategies” highlight models for developing curriculum, including projects, curricular alignment, integration of various subject matter areas, and types of knowledge. • “Constructions” promote problem solving by allowing students to explore, revisit, examine, and learn from first-hand experience. • “Multiple Perspectives from the Field” provide interviews with teachers and other early childhood professionals, offering students a realistic look at the profession from a diverse group of educators. • “Teacher Dialogues” explore a wide range of student concerns, including curriculum, learning environments, assessment, and documentation, representing a collaborative support group for pre-service teachers and readers.
