Political leaders in Britain are consistently drawn from a class born to be educated away from their families in institutions - elite boarding schools. This has a direct effect on their ability to love, to relate, to make good judgments and to develop the necessary leadership qualities for today's world. In this controversial and highly acclaimed book, the author guides the reader along the elite path through boarding school and Oxbridge to government, unpacking what he calls the Entitlement Illusion. Central to the Illusion is a uniquely British phenomenon, an industrialised process for turning out servants of the Empire that has been unwilling to change with the times. It was deified in the Victorian Rational Man Project and normalised by the British public, who still buy into the trance. Up to date evidence from Neuroscience shows what a poor training for leadership this actually is.

There is a mental malaise creeping through the collective human mindset. Mass psychosis is becoming normalized. It is time to break free... One of the key problems facing human beings today is that we do not look after our minds. As a consequence, we are unaware of the malicious impacts that infiltrate and influence us on a daily basis. This lack of awareness leaves people open and vulnerable. Many of us have actually become alienated from our own minds, argues Kingsley L. Dennis. This is how manipulations occur that result in phenomena such as crowd behaviour and susceptibility to political propaganda, consumerist advertising and social management. Mass psychosis is only possible because humanity has become alienated from its transcendental source. In this state, we are prisoners to the impulses that steer our unconscious. We may believe we have freedom, but we don’t. Healing the Wounded Mind discusses these external influences in terms of a collective mental disease – the wetiko virus (Forbes), ahrimanic forces (Steiner), the alien mind (Castaneda), and the collective unconscious shadow (Jung). The human mind has been targeted by corrupt forces that seek to exploit our thinking on a grand scale. This is the ‘magician’s trick’ that has kept us captive within the social systems that both distract and subdue us. In the first part of this transformative book, the author outlines how the Wounded Mind manifests in cultural conditioning, from childhood onwards. In the second part, he examines how ‘hypermodern’ cultures are being formed by this mental psychosis and shaping our brave new world. In an inspiring conclusion, we are shown the gnostic path to freedom through connecting with the transcendental source of life. ‘Recognizing the root causes of the malaise ... is a crucial step, and I hope that the readers of this brilliant and profound book will recognize the urgency of taking it. – Ervin Laszlo ‘Kingsley Dennis, with eloquence and erudition, knows how to enter a field that most people find daunting, by way of a relentless search for new ways of thinking. Dennis, like few others, exhibits a timeless enthusiasm for discovery.’ – James Cowan, author of A Mapmaker’s Dream ‘Again, Kingsley Dennis demonstrates that he is one of very few thinkers who seem to understand the scope and subtlety of the immense transition that humanity is experiencing...’ – John L. Petersen, founder of the Arlington Institute

“It is all about conscious practice,” asserts Dr. Steinwedel. In an effort to encourage more consciously engaged organizations, Janet Steinwedel, author of The Golden Key to Executive Coaching, brings us back to critical reflection on oneself – the Coach – and the work she or he does on her or his own inner life. This connection of ego and the Self archetypes establishes conscious awareness in service to the Coach’s well-lived life and in support of the meaningful lives of others. It is in relationship with others that all of our “stuff” shows up. We bring our histories with us. Our childhood wounds, expectations and experiences, along with our cultural influences and biases, all tag along in every interaction in which we find ourselves. Without our conscious awareness, we confuse what really is with what we fear might be, or with what unknowingly haunts us. This work is a process—it is our life—and it will enable our growth and the growth of others in countless meaningful ways. This is the work of authenticity and individuation and we gain access to it through understanding archetypes. Bio: As President of Leader’s Insight, an Executive Coaching and Leadership Effectiveness consultancy, Dr. Steinwedel provides thought leadership as a consultant and executive coach. She assists leaders in clarifying their goals and objectives and becoming more aware of themselves and their behaviors in service to their aspirations and business results. With more than 25 years of experience working in such industries as pharmaceuticals, health care, financial services, insurance, engineering, communications, retail, and hospitality, Janet works effectively with a broad range of leaders. She uses an analytical framework which provides a foundational understanding of personality and human behavior— conscious and unconscious processes. In addition to her own work with corporate executives, Janet devotes time to a “coaching for coaches” process in which she helps other executive coaches with their personal and professional development. Janet is an adjunct professor and speaker, and enjoys travel, playing golf, and spending time with her nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

This book is an investigation of non-fatal injury and bloodspill in Homer's Iliad and demonstrates the crucial significance of these motifs in the epic. They are shown to be fundamental to defining heroic status and a powerful means for developing the narrative and thematic structures of the poem. The study offers a nuanced definition of the nature of mortality and immortality and shows how the motifs of injury and bloodspill explicate the plot of the poem and its ethical values. This work is the first to examine these motifs in a systematic and comprehensive investigation. Focusing exclusively on the Iliad, the book sheds new light on ideals of heroic conduct.
