This second edition provides an overview of effective interventions for targeting language disorders in children for both emerging communication and more advanced language and literacy.
Contains protocols for basic language skills most children with language disorder need to be taught in the initial stages of treatment. The protocols give scripted scenarios for teaching most of the bound morphemes of English that children with language disorder typically lack. For each target skill, 20 exemplars are available for the clinician to baserate, treat, and probe for generalized production. Although most children learn language relatively quickly, as many as 10 per cent of them are slow to start speaking and are said to have developmental language disorder (DLD). Children with DLD are managed by a variety of different professionals in different countries, are offered different services for different periods of time and are given a variety of different therapeutic treatments.
