Every parent's goal is to raise happy, healthy children who can thrive and flourish whatever the challenges faced along the way. In The Thriving Family, leading psychologist David Coleman shares his unique vision to show us how. Outlining his core principles of 'kind but firm' parenting, he reveals how powerful tools such as empathy, positive reinforcement and setting successful boundaries can lead to a loving, supportive and calm home environment that allows every member to thrive. Drawing from his vast experience working with families, he looks at new ways to approach common issues, including adapting to parenthood; dealing with bullying, drugs and alcohol; creating healthy social networks online and in real life; dealing with separation and loss; enhancing sibling harmony and reducing rivalry; thriving when your children move on. Whatever the situation or challenge, The Thriving Family empowers parents to create the best future for their children, and encourages children to step into it with joy and confidence.

A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR BUILDING A THRIVING FAMILY PLAN There is a difference between a healthy family and a thriving family. Authors Linda and Lloyd Reeb have dedicated countless hours to walking alongside families as they navigate the journey toward thriving. This book explores the best practices for creating a thriving family plan that will include and celebrate the unique qualities of your family—no one-size-fits-all approach exists when it comes to family dynamics. In conjunction with the other two books in the family-focused series (Halftime for Couples and Finally Connected), this workbook-style guide will help you and your family explore the six key components of a thriving family plan: leadership, values, family of unique individuals, serving, legacy, and celebrating. No matter what your starting point is, this resource will help you and your family have conversations to get clear on your dreams and desires, get free from what’s holding you back, and get going on building a thriving family together. LINDA AND LLOYD REEB have been married over thirty years, enjoy living near Charlotte, NC, and have grown children and grandchildren. Linda was a stay-at-home mom and a part-time dental assistant until the children started leaving for college. After exploring her calling and realizing her passion to encourage moms of young children, she transitioned into a mentoring role at MomsMentoring (momsmentoring.com). That is her primary occupation today. Lloyd was a successful real estate developer and owner of luxury senior housing facilities in 1993 when his idea of success changed dramatically and his life’s focus shifted to second-half significance. He spends most of his time now speaking and leading workshops around the world and coaching men and women through the Halftime journey. He is also the author of The Second Half: Real stories, Real adventures, Real significance, a coffee-table book packed with stories of people making a difference in their second half. His first book, From Success to Significance: When the Pursuit of Success Isn’t Enough, is a roadmap for midlife transition.

An examination of Coventry's process of urbanisation from its origins in the Anglo-Saxon past to the eve of the Black Death. The processes by which medieval urban communities were formed and developed can be clearly seen in this study of Coventry. Following a survey of Domesday evidence, the book goes on to look at the mechanisms for economic growth inCoventry during the twelfth century, in which both lay and monastic lords played a significant part. Coventry in the thirteenth century reveals other issues: migration to and from the town, the occupational structure within Coventry, and the urban land market. The story of Coventry's development into the fourteenth century ranges over trade, manufacturing and occupations, and notes changes in the land market. Making extensive use of the town's rich documentation, this study presents the reader with a closely argued analysis of the stages by which Coventry developed from its origins in the Anglo-Saxon past to a vibrant and wealthy urban community on the eve of the Black Death. Dr RICHARD GODDARD teaches in the School of History, University of Nottingham.

In an important contribution to the developing field of interdisciplinary studies in the Humanities, Ledger and Luckhurst make available to students and scholars a large body of non-literary texts which richly configure the variegated cultural history of the fin-de-siècle years. That history is here shown to inaugurate many enduring critical and cultural concerns, with sections on Degeneration, Outcast London, The Metropolis, The New Woman, Literary Debates, The New Imperialism, Socialism, Anarchism, Scientific Naturalism, Psychology, Psychical Research, Sexology, Anthropology and Racial Science. Each section begins with an Introduction and closes with Editorial Notes which carefully situate individual texts within a wider cultural landscape.

You've spent the first twelve years of your child's life guiding, disciplining, and playing, only to transition into the teenage years where you feel like none of this mattered. It does matter! The teenage years can be a struggle for most parents because trying to connect with your teenager as a parent can feel hopeless at times. Trying to understand your teen's logic, choices, and actions is more than a full-time job; it is a commitment to chaos and hoping you come out alive when it is all over. This book is meant to provide helpful information, tips, and guidance so that you don't dread the teen years. We believe that you can live and thrive in your relationship together and see your teen become the adult they are meant to be. We focus on some key aspects of a relationship, our THRIVE model, to give you tools to enhance the time you have with your teen. * Trust--Building trust means being honest with yourself and your teen. It's being consistent in your reactions and clear with your expectations. It means following through every time. * Heal--To heal your family, you must understand the whole system. It is understanding your struggle, separate and in conjunction, with your teen. It is finding the humility to be weak and imperfect and then accepting the imperfectness of it all. It is being courageous enough to implement change. * Respect--To have respect, it must be mutual. Loving your teen for who they are, speaking honestly, and using a kind tone model the kind of respect you would want from them. Respect can also be defined as respecting yourself and who you are as a parent--knowing your strengths and understanding when you need to ask for help. * Invite--This is the core of collaboration. Inviting your teen to participate with you. * Validate--Validating that everyone has their own set of emotions that have value is very impactful for the family system. Honoring those feelings and listening to each other will build relationships and create healthy adults. * Enjoy--Have fun! Enjoy your family. Enjoy your teen.

Media representations of law and order are matters of keen public interest and have been the subject of intense debate amongst those with an interest in the media, crime and criminal justice. Despite being an increasingly high profile subject few publications address this subject head on. This book aims to meet this need by bringing together an important range of papers from leading researchers in the field, addressing issues of fictional, factual and hybrid representations in the media -the so called 'docu-dramas' and 'faction'.
