If You Hate Lawyers, you'll Love An Elephant In The Living Room - Is It Too Late To "Kill All The Lawyers"? The United States has drifted away from the Founders' concept of "We The People" to a nation gripped by the rule of Law. Nearly everything we do on a daily basis from before we're born until after we die falls under the cloud of The Law. Worse than that, in the past several decades The Law has deputized us into a legion of civil litigants and pseudo-prosecutors who have been conditioned to seek legal retribution for every conceivable wrongdoing of another. The problem? The Law is a shaky house of cards poorly constructed and self-affirmed by her well-paid practitioners, whose sole goal is to stir the pot of dispute amongst The People to feed the greedy monster called "The Law," and to line the pockets of her lawyers. An Elephant In The Living Room - Is It Too Late To "Kill All The Lawyers"? is one insider's view--one who's "been there, done that"--of The Law; how it hurts, how it hinders, and how it subtlely but deftly burdens The People with mind-boggling constraints on Liberty, Life and the Pursuit of Happiness. An Elephant In The Living Room - Is It Too Late To "Kill All The Lawyers"?, through both personal experience anecdotes as well as historically significant legal cases, tells it like it is in layman's language while offering inspiration and encouragement, empowering The People to take our Country back!

The Journey What you are about to read is the journey that I took close to a decade ago. This book is really my diary about the investigations I made of a group of mediums and their work. Little did I know that I would also begin to experience phenomenon of a spiritual nature. I made a choice to continue to experience and study and found myself in the need to write down all the experiences that I had so I could later examine them. I found the process and the drama of the soul as they leave their present existence and enter into a new dimension, which is the spiritual world. You will read what I went through, and I learned that life does not end with death but is rather a transformation of the spirit I found that the spirit retains his identity as well as the mind. This journey has taken many turns and continues to this day. I decided to make this information available to all that would wish to read it.

He shows us that Kierkegaard's expressed intent is to provide readers with the opportunity to choose or reject Christ. He explores the question of who Kierkegaard understands Jesus to be and why he believes that faith or history alone cannot answer this question, claiming that history is meaningful only when it is understood from the perspective of "sacred history." Kierkegaard's Livingroom explores what "sacred history" is, why it is so important to us, and why it depends on an incarnate God. Mercer argues that Kierkegaard is not tilting at windmills but responding to Hegel's view of history and Kant's view of faith, showing that Kierkegaard has much to contribute to the debates on liberalism and post-modernism.

For the past twenty to thirty years, control theories of crime have been at the center of theoretical development in criminology. Key to the control theory perspective is the notion that crime is an inherently individual act, and its explanation requires that we focus on the characteristics of individuals who commit crimes. Consequently, control theory focuses on such issues as self-control and social control. The contributions to this volume explicate and extend the application of control theory. It is divided into three general areas. Part 1 focuses on key assumptions and components of control theories. Contributors discuss the notion of learning, or socialization, in the context of control theory and the effects that families, peers, and the criminal justice system have on self-control, social ties, and criminal behavior. Part 2 applies control theory to areas typically assumed to be out of the domain of self-control theory and social control theory, such as gender differences in crime, domestic violence, and group crime. Considering control theory's emphasis on explaining individual criminal acts, these chapters suggest an interesting area of development by highlighting the possibility that differences in crime across or within groups may begin with individual characteristics and then making inferences about groups and group processes. Part 3 approaches the explanation of crime cross-nationally and at the macro-level. Although the authors take different approaches, they all illustrate that a theory of crime does not require culture-specific elements in order to be a valid cross-cultural explanation. Contributors to this volume include: Robert Agnew, Todd Armstrong, Leana Allen Bouffard, Augustine Brannigan, Chester Britt, Barbara Costello, Maja Dekovic, Matt DeLisi, Michael Gottfredson, Henriette Haas, Kelly H. Hardwick, Travis Hirschi, Marianne Junger, Martin Killias, Helen Mederer, Kevin Thompson, and Alexander Vazsonyi.

Forty-six essays, presented by avowedly anti-Castro editors and gathered mostly from US journals and books of the past couple decades, are organized into five sections devoted to the history, economy, society, military, and polity of Cuba. Some of the specific topics treated include: Cuban and Soviet relations; decentralization, local government, and participation; economic policies and strategies for the 1990s; the politics of sports; political and military relations; and forecasting institutional changes after Castro. In addition, two appendices present a chronology of the Cuban revolution from 1959 to 1998 and biographical essays on 19 revolutionary leaders.
