It is a general term for refuse, and also bears the meaning of husks and chaff, the refuse of thrashed corn; which may be intended here. See Mr. Way's note on 'Draffe ' in the Prompt. Parv.; where he cites Chaucer's 'Why shuld I sowen draf out of my fist' (Persones Prol.), and the expression 'draf-sak' in the Reve's Tale.
