Der Band wagt ein historiografisches Experiment, indem er gegenüber einem Entwicklungsmodell, das die Aufmerksamkeit auf vermeintliche Höhe- und Wendepunkte lenkt, sich jenen Momenten im Schlagschatten dieser "lauten" Ereignisse zuwendet. Die Fragestellung des Bandes, der auf die 36.
